As you are aware, SIV-G has been organising Nationwide Annual Onlline Essay Contest for students since 2007 in association with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Trust, Chennai. SIV-G is extremely pleased to announce the Online Essay Contest 2013.
The Online Essay Contest is for the students of age group 15 to 23 years (as on 1.1.2013). The Theme of the Contest is ‘Integrity, Honesty and Good Governance’. This contest is being organized as part of 137th Birthday Celebrations of Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel. The contest opens on 20th September 2013 for registration and submission of Essays. Last date for submission of essay online is 20th October 2013.
The entries will be evaluated by eminent personalities from different walks of life. The first prize carries a cash award of Rs.5000/-, the second prize Rs. 3000/- and the third prize Rs.2000/-. There will be a good number of consolation prizes as well. The prize distribution function for these competitions will be held on 31st October, 2013 at Chennai.

How to Register
1. All students who are interested in taking part in this Contest are requested to Register first. For registration:

4. Enter your username and password at the top right corner of the page and click login.
5. Students who had already registered at www.siv-g.org for the earlier competition can use the same username and password for submiting the essay for this competition.

How to submit your Essay
1. Submit your Essays (remember that essay submission is possible only after logging in).
1. Go to the User Menu (at bottom left of main page)
2. Choose Submit Articles
3. Enter Title of the Essay,
4. Choose 'Online Essay Contest' under Section & 'Sardar Patel Birthday Celebration' under Category
5. Enter your content of Essay in the space provided below the tool bar
6. Submit by clicking 'Save" Icon
7. Ensure that you get the following message after submission : "Thanks for your submission. Your submission will now be reviewed before being posted to the site"
(Please note, You will receive an acceptance email after review)
When you submit the Essay, please provide the following details, without these details, your Essay will not be considered for the contest:

(vii) Student identification number
(viii) Course and academic / school year.

Terms and Conditions
(i) The Essay must be the sole work of the student.
(ii) Must be original,unpublished and undistributed material.
(iii) Must be accompanied with full bibliography/reference list.
(iv) Only 1 entry per student.

Shruthi is currently a junior (eleventh grader) in Darien High School, Darien, Connecticut, USA. She has a keen interest in biotechnology and plans to pursue a medical carrier after high school. Apart from academics, her interests spans across literature and music. Her writings range from romanticist poetry to critical, analytic essays. She won the awards from Southwestern Connecticut Teen Writing Competition consecutively in 2010 and 2011. She is a member of the Darien High School Orchestra, Tri-M (the Music Honors Society), and Current (the high school literary magazine). Shruthi is also actively involved in Indian Carnatic Music for both Violin and Vocal. She has been participating in the New York -Sri Tyagaraja Utsavam for the past six years.
Suresh Govindarajan is presently Dy. Chief Vigilance Officer in Kandla Port, Government of India(GoI). Till recently Vigilance Manager in BEML, Ministry of Defence, GoI and earlier Vigilance Officer in ONGC and IOCL, both major public sector enterprises of GoI. Recruited in 1987 to Central Vigilance Commission(CVC). A Chemistry Graduate from University of Madras and an MBA with specialization in HRM. Published various articles and papers in different journals / forums. Came out with his own law called Suresh's Law of Corruption Dynamics and published it in the University of Passau, Germany in October 2005. Invited by the University of Passau, Germany, in October 2006 and presented the Axiom to Suresh's Law of Corruption Dynamics, called SIV-G : Self Imposed Vigilance for Good Governance.
Suresh is the Founder of SIV-G : Self Imposed Vigilance for good Governance which is now recognized as a movement. He launched a website www.siv-g.org and use it to organize online essay contests for students (both college and higher secondary school) on themes ‘Good Governance’ and ‘Integrity and good governance’ and be in touch with the youngsters. A regular faculty in training programmes and workshops on good governance, vigilance and anti-corruption, Suresh is also a feature speaker in the India Integrity Campaign of CII-Young Indians. He is associated with academic and training institutions / universities and NGOs and has been addressing student community, in particular.
Suresh was selected for the 10th Commonwealth Study Conference held in March 2007 in India and Malaysia and was also selected as a Group Leader of 13 delegates from 9 different countries, which included a Parliamentarian, a Director of a Company, an Environmentalists, Union leaders, Journalists, Educationalists etc. He had the opportunity to meet Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam(when he was President of India), His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent Admiral Edward George Nicholas Patrick Paul, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and many other dignitaries and shared his vision and mission of SIV-G.
Suresh was invited by the University of Tenanga International (UNITEN), Malaysia to present his paper on SIV-G and his Law during the UNITEN International Business Management Conference (UNBMC 2007) in December 2007.
Suresh is also Peer Reviewer for India for the Global Integrity Index 2007, published by the Washington based organization, Global Integrity.
Suresh was gifted the Mahatma Gandhi Sahayogi Puraskar (of Gandhi Integrated Forum Trust) by His Excellency Governor of Tamil Nadu on 15th August 2007 and was nominated for the Lakshmibai Singhania – Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow National Leadership Award – 2007 and for the Yale World Fellow in 2008.
Happily married, Suresh is backed by the police officer wife at home and two daughters.
Vasavi is a twenty-one year old Engineering graduate from Chennai, currently placed in Wipro technologies. She finished her college education in Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology. An avid bookworm that she is, Vasavi also has a penchant for writing. Her keen interest in writing opened up a whole new world of blogging to her. She has been posting her articles ranging from book reviews, short fiction, humour and social issues in her wordpress blog. Her articles have been published in 'The Hindu' NxG and her college magazine 'RITROSPECT'. Apart from writing, Vasavi also has a passion for teaching which led to her joining Bhumi, an NGO dedicated to teaching under privileged children. She has been volunteering with Bhumi for three years now.
E - Cards 60
SIV-G has been publishing E-Cards during the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week every here. These cards are electronically sent to all its Members and Well Wishers. SIV-G encourages wide circulation of the messages contained in the E-Cards in all possible ways, particularly through one's action.
SIV-G brings out a Newsletter named 'SIV-G AJNA'. 'Ajna' in Sanskrit means 'summoning'. This Newsletter is electronically published immediately after the conclusion of the Online Essay Contest and the Vigilance Awareness Week. The first Newsletter was published in the year 2011.
